  • LLumar makes a similar product called Air Blue.

We have it on both of our cars front windshield.

It makes a big difference here in Florida.

Some people complain of an orange peel effect at night but I have noticed anything different although I try really hard to not drive at night anymore.

Be sure to tell your car detailer if you use one.

Also, it is illegal to tint your front windshield in most states but you can get a Drs excuse if you say you have a sensitivity to UV.
  • I put 3M "Medium Skylight" on the windows in the truck camper. It took a bit of a learning curve to install it right--mostly to get the size right for the particular window, but also just the rigamarole of getting them stuck on properly. PITA but survivable for a DIY man with a calm temperament against adversity :)

There is a very slight darkening in daytime you can hardly tell. I cannot answer as to how it would work on your car front window at night against headlight glare, but it would not be dark glass like is illegal anymore from back when they tried that, and you couldn't see out at night. :(

It could well help on the side windows against sunburn.
  • We just had the "40" 3M crystalline film installed on all the windows in our fiver. Of course, the "40" is tinted and reduces light in the visible spectrum, too (our choice). It reduced the heating coming into the rig via the windows by about 90% and took a huge load off the ACs. I'm sold on the stuff (though it ain't cheap). Now I don't have to put the Reflectix in the windows and listen to my wife complain about the London blackout.

  • I like I REALLY LIKE what 3M says about blocking virtually all UV rays. No more toasted port side of face and arm and hand.
  • Certainly, it says that it blocks infrared which is not in the visible region. So a film can be "black" in the ir band but clear and colorless in the visible. You can buy photographic ir filters which are perfectly colorless. Also the same applies to polarizing filters, they can be and are often colorless. They add tint to sunglasses to block more light, polarizing filters are designed to only block certain visible light mainly that which is reflected and appears as glare.
