Club car batteries

Does anyone know about golf cart batteries and or golf carts
because I have one that has 6 8 volt batteries but only one registered 50 volts so I assume that was the bad one, I changed that one out with another used one but could not get any power to get up a small hill I then checked the whole circuit one on the positive side and then the negative side and only read 37 volts total, other campers say you cannot change just one battery you have to change them all, I wonder if this true, if it is, i'am wondering what is the best 8 volt batteries to buy and the medium cost so I don't break the bank as I know they are expensive if I have to buy 6, 8 volts and also is there a way to check my club car charger, just want to see if it also is working.

Thank you.

  • By the way, your batteries do not read 4.8 amps, they read 4.8 VOLTS
  • If there was space, sure would be better to buy 8 6v than 6 8v. Even 4 12v would be better than the 8v. The charger will work on any combo of 48v
  • Thank you very much, I hope you have a great day and night
you have tought this rookie a lot tonite, I hope some day I can pay you back, again thank you Sir

  • Any specific battery kind at Sam's Club does it have to be a marine battery or just a regular 6- 8 volt batteries.

    Thank you.
  • Yes you probably have one bad battery. Always best to replace all. Depending on age and money you could replace one. Just don't expect it to last longer than the others.
  • Each battery tested out at over 8.4 amps only one tested at 4.8 amps
they all have 4 ports on the top, so i'am thinking all the batteries are toast or unless something is draining them down, but i'am looking in line for probably 6 new batteries, I did a test on my neighbors batteries and they all tested over 8 amps and he has 4-12 volt batteries and in the full circuit his tested out over 50 amps and mine was only 37 amps.
  • Each battery should be 8.4 volts when fully charged.

Six batteries should be 50.4 volts total.

Are you sure they are 8 volt batteries? They have 4 fill caps yes?

Yes you can charge them individually if you have an 8 volt charger.

I believe Sam's Club sells these batteries at a good value.

Once the batteries are validated you can check the charger voltage to verify how it is working.
