Coleman Mach 8 Cub freezing

We've used the AC more this year, and have had some instances of freeze-up. After some warm nights, I think we've found the temperature setting that works throughout the night. I wonder though, what else might be done. None of the on-line info I've found indicate this unit has a freeze sensor. Is this true, and is there a way to install one aftermarket? Thanks.
  • If you have a WALL tstat, you should have a freeze sensor. If the controls are mounted to the inside ceiling assbly there is no freeze sensor. Doug
  • Thanks Doug. Yes the controls are on the ceiling unit. Any way to add a sensor?

No. BUT, you run the AC on HI fan and move the tstat knob back slightly from full cold. Lo Fan, it will freeze up. Also, Make sure the filters are clean and the evaporator fins are clean. VERY important on manual controls. Doug
  • Thanks Doug. High fan is a bit noisy, but backing off the temperature has worked for several nights now. The filters are clean. Seems like there should be a way to add a sensor and relay to allow a cooler setting.
