Coleman Mach RV Comfort Thermostat

Yesterday getting the rig ready for the season and fired up the electric heat strip in the AC unit and it worked fine except that the propane furnace also came on.

I have the Coleman Mach RV Comfort Thermostat and I assume that it is the little selector slide switch is malfunctioning allowing both heat sources to run at the same time.

I have had issues in the past where the propane furnace would run and continue past the heat setting and not shut off.

Any thoughts if I am on the right track?
  • If you have the LCD screen on the Tstat and ON Electric heat, the LP furnace will come ON if the set temp is more than 5 degrees from the interior temp. If the interior temp of the RV is 60 degrees and you set the heat temp (Heat Strip) to 66 or higher, the Furnace WILL come on until the temp spread is within that 5 degrees. 60 in the RV you set the temp at 70, when the interior temp reaches 66 degrees the Furnace drops out and the Heat Strip continues to attempt to heat the rest of the way. Probably will NOT as a Heat Strip is not designed to heat the RV, just take the chill off. Heat Strips follow the same parameters of a Heat Pump on operation. Doug
