Continuity puzzler

The lugs on my fuse board for the positive and negative battery connections have continuity between them with all fuses pulled and leads disconnected...what am I missing?
  • Thanx for replies,I'm boondocking running two new 6volt batts, charging with solar and keeping the fridge running, life is good.
  • All the above plus there are filter capacitors on the output of the converter that will show some resistance until your ohm meter charges them.
If the resistance keeps changing as you watch it, that's what it is.
  • probably the filter system or bleed resistor in the converter

I assume you had some reason to be curious and its not blowing fuses or creating major problems
    since none were mentioned
  • A few possibilities I can think of.

First, if it's a fuse panel with lights that indicate blown fuses, those could show some continuity in one direction. (They're LEDs with dropping resistors in parallel with the fuse sockets.)

Second, if it's connected to (or part of) a converter or charger or something of that ilk, the output rectifiers in the converter may show continuity in one direction.

Third, you have a short circuit that needs fixing.

Maybe a picture of what you're dealing with showing where you have unexpected continuity would help us help you figure out what's going on.
