It depends on the "Density" of the recordiong.. Mine has several settings from I think 480 to 1080 or something like that (numbers may be off) the smaller the number the smaller the file it records.. but the less sharp the picture
This is also true of my older analog only DVR's
I normally estimate 1 gig per hour for Most shows.. THat's standard on the MP2 boxes and about what I download once a week on the MP4 I have not examined files on the Converter/DVR yet. Still learning it,
