- BendExplorerInstalled a PM4B-45 Boondocker last spring in my TT and used it last summer. I usually ran it from a genset for an hour at a time. Starting at ~ 80% SOC, bulk ran at 14.6v as per spec for about 20 min then fell to 13.6v for absorb. Seemed to work fine but I did not stress it any further than that. Remember, this is a near constant current vs voltage charger.

http://www.bestconverter.com/assets/images/Powermax/PM4B%20Manual.pdf - BFL13Explorer III am happy with my PowerMax, but you have to know what you want your converter to do exactly for its charging profile.
The PM4 models that came out a while back now, have a much improved charging profile over the earlier PMs and PM3s for going into boost. Not like a WFCO anymore. AFAIK the PM4s still do the absorption stage at 13.7v after doing bulk to 14.6v but you can ask Randy about that to confirm.
Your battery SOC when it changes from bulk to absorption will depend on the charging rate, ie the charging amps/battery bank size in AH, same as with any charger. Whether you call that "too early" depends on your charging rate and what you would prefer for your charging scenario. - Shadow_CatcherExplorerI looked at these a while back and my memory was that they are made in China and there are some reports of problem i.e. dropping out of boost early http://forums.woodalls.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/26528617.cfm
I have had good experience with our Progressive Dynamics that came from the factory wired into the trailer incorrectly, which killed it. I called Progressive Dynamics on a Thursday afternoon and had a replacement the next morning by FedEx. I like that they are made in the US and I really like the quick response to a problem.
