Country Of Origin? Cooper 195x70x14" Tire?

China's tire quality seems to be on-par with British cuisine.

I have a chance to pick up the above size Cooper tires for a price advantage versus the Wal-Mart Gliding Dragon "Douglas" rags I have been forced to use.

But, not if soy sauce is part of the rubber's secret formula.

Only one thing poorer in quality than Chinese tires...

Chinese fasteners and electrical terminals.

  • I'm running Cooper tires on the DD truck, not the tow vehicle, and am very happy with them. I have no idea where they are made, but they've lasted a long time, albeit mostly pavement.

Can you call the dealer and ask about the CoO? Have them take a look at the stamp?
  • I've run Cooper tires or private label tires made by Cooper for years on various cars, trucks, and RV's, and been very satisfied with both the performance and cost.
  • This is for a toad and dealer is 500+ miles from here without internet. Good price around eqvt 38 dollars installed spin balanced. Wal-Wongs lasted 11,000 miles even wear pattern and multiple alignment verifications. Ooooo they were rotated.

FWIW, cooper is near if not at the top of customer satisfaction for tire mfg.

Look at the sidewall and it will have a date code and mfg and location code. with that code you can look up where the tires are manufactured. Cooper makes quite a few tires in the U.S.

cooper has two U.S. mfg locations, one location in england and joint venture mfg location with Kenda in china

I don't have any personal experience with cooper tires, primarily because they don't mfg a high performance tire for my two sedans, nor do they currently mfg any studless winter tires.

But I know others who have run cooper tires on their trucks and been very happy with them.
  • Not all of the Chinese tires are poor quality. The Sailun tires have proven to be an excellent trailer tire, but don't know about their passenger tires.

Seems like Cooper has fingers in many pies, so probably the only way to really tell would be to physically check the Country of Origin stamp on the tire.
