CreateABreeze by Fan-tastic Vent says do not add vent cover.

Just upgraded to a new DP. It has 3 Fantastic fans and the material says it is not rain sensor equipped. It also recommends against adding a vent cover like Max Air. Bought 3 covers and reviewed 3 You Tube videos on the internet. They all talk about bolting the brackets to the fan structure which is exactly what I did on my last rig. My fans have a plastic frame (rather than metal) and the structure of the fan does not allow the installation of a bolt. The Max Air's came with the normal configuration of bolts and brackets. They also included a tiny little screw, which looks like it may not even hold the vent cover on. What was Fan-Tastic Vent thinking, only use the vent when you are in the RV. What about venting when you are away from the rig or it is in storage? Or are they just trying to avoid legal issues? Any ideas?

  • FF says not to use anyone else's vent covers. If you look at their covers they are designed to allow the vent lid to open all the way. If you produced a product would you recommend the use of someone else's part that restricted the opening of your product and would eventually generate a complaint about your product? Would you recommend someone else's product when you produce your own?

I put Maxxair-II on our two FF's. Asked here plus a couple shops and they said that's what they usually install. Took our FF's far enough to use nuts & bolts. Then heard about sheet metal screws. Nuts actually worked loose. So I ended up with screws after all. Use the sheet metal screws and by all means have covers!
  • Fantastic has a video demonstrating their low restriction covers. I have two of them and they installed in minutes and come of quickly for cleaning of the vents.
  • I have had my Fantastic fans covered since new in 1997, and no problems yet. Fantastic is being a bit to conservative when asking to not cover them.

Fantastic Fan has a cover that they make for their units. It attaches two brackets on each side using the mounting screws for the unit. Then four quick release pins so you can remove it for cleaning or repairs. It is made so as to not effect the air flow needed for the fan. Purchased ours from Camping World when they were on sale. Even used it on a non fantastic unit.

x2 All three of ours, with FF covers, work great.
  • Look on the backside of your MAXXAIRII instructions and it will tell you to use the eight (8) #6 x 1/2" long Self-Tapping Stainless Steel screws to complete the install over a Fantastic Fan.
