Dash cams

I just purchased a dash cam (viofo A118C) off amazon for $46.00. It has a lcd screen and uses capacitors instead of a lithium ion battery. I has good reviews on the web. Just wondering how many other folks are using dash cams in their vehicles. For us, it will be for our own peace of mind and cheap insurance

    I use a Garmin Dash Cam 20 hard wired so it's on when the ignition is on. Replaced the 4 GB microSD card with a 32GB.

    I just ordered a KDLinks X1 dash cam. my buddy has one and I liked it so I bought one. still waiting on delivery.

    Just got the viofo A118c a month ago. I had a couple of problems figuring out that I couldn't have the highest resolution. Also I had to reformat the memory card and reinstall the software a couple of times. $46 is a fantastic deal, here in Canada I had to pay about $150 off Amazon.

    We have had a Mini 801 for about three years, very good quality have a 32 Gb. micro we card good for about six hours of recording. Catch some really crazy stuff on it.
    I look at it as having an unbiased witness to a crash. That or crazy road rage incident.

    that "secret" mounting location won't work on my windshields, they all have black out stuff in that area. don't understand capacitors instead of batteries, thought capacitors were for more of an instantaneous current, not to run an appliance?

    according to some research into this, the battery can get too hot, or go dead and the camera will have issues working after that. Capacitors are not as susceptible to heat issues

    yes, batteries can go dead. such is life. but you stand about a million times more in danger of a cell phone battery bursting into flames than a dash cam. I can't remember ever reading about one catching fire.
