Well, I asked about a macerator, not the Flojet macerator.
People are using much longer lengths of hose with macerators, so I just wondered if there's a reason not to use PVC over a similarly long distance. I'm not bound up in the specifics--I'm just curious about possibilities. - SoundGuyExplorer

Why in the world would you want to interface hard wall PVC pipe to a macerator when it's already designed to have a 3/4" garden hose screwed on to it?Rice wrote:

Now can you answer the question?

Your choice, but obviously if you want to output the pump to PVC you need to make up an adapter with a 3/4" GH female connector at one end and whatever is required at the other end to connect to your 150' of PVC.
Good enough? :R - LantleyNomad

Because the PVC will provide less resistance and the stuff will flow easier/better - RiceExplorer III

- Joel_TExplorerCleanDump has a 50'x 1"flat hose for 70 bucks. 1" works way better than 3/4" and less. I have the 20'x 1" rigid that Flojet provides but it's too short in a couple situations. Can't find anybody that's used the flat one to see if it'd work OK.
- OK, lets look at this from a logical look. Macerators chew up debris and then eject it out of the Macerator. NOT REGULAR WATER BUT DEBRIS THAT IS THICKER THAN WATER. FLAT hoses, the one thing they require is PRESSURE/VOLUME to expand them to normal diameter to function. So, you want to connect to a macerator discharge and HOPE when the pump is attempting to spew out the debris, which is thicker than water, it will expand the hose in a timely matter. THEN (it will work, just not the best), you have a flat smelly hose full of debris remnants, that you will have to flush out. There is a reason OEM Macerators use a semi-rigid pliable 1 inch hose(usually 20 to 25 feet) connected to the discharge of the Macerator, and they have a cut off valve on the end for that smelly part. While the flat hose may work, it is not the best way to go for a Macerator system. Doug
AND, hope nobody else grabs that hose to connect to the City water input or to fill a fresh tank:B - ol_Bombero-JCExplorer

The one campground where i would use the macerator the most is set up for MH's. When I back in all my hookups are on the wrong side and my sewer hookup is at least 30 ft. from my outlet. I don't want to carry 50' of hose but due to circumstances I really don't have a choice. This is usually a 14 day stay and 10 hours away from home so we are loaded and storage becomes an issue. I guess I could always make the room to save some $$$. Thanks. I'll take a look at the one 2oldman posted.
A "normal" rubber 3/4 hose won't take up that much more room than the
"flat" type - and can be found almost anywhere.
You cold always shorten a 50' to 30' to save space - at the cost of a coupling (or two - the 2nd for the 20' that you're using at home, or?)
"wa8yxm" - the "Goodyear" brand of 3/4" hose I have is RED. Hope that meets the color standards, ROTFL.
"JohnG3" - the "COUPLE HUNDRED FEET" poster......guess you probably also burn up a few 16 gauge extension cords when you're supplying your electrical needs from a 20 amp outlet at the same distance, huh!?
