disconnect solar panel when running portable generator

Hello RVers I am new on this forum and have my first question? When I am dry camping I hookup my 100watt solar panel which is run threw my xantrex charge controller then direct to my batteries. My question is when I need to turn on my yamaha( ef 2000) generator do you need to disconnect my solar panel leads from the batteries before turning on generator.I am concerned that it could back feed and cause damage to something. All help would be appreciated!!
Thanks

  • The output of my solar charge controller is wired directly to the output of my converter. Been that way for years.
  • Hi,

Since there is a charge controller for the solar panels, there is no need to disconnect.

My solar plays well with shore power, and alternator power. If I am running the generator to operate the roof air, all three sources are active for charging the house battery bank.
