On lower circuit board in outside compartment the 'heater' DC POS comes from J2 terminal (far lower left) RED lead

That DC POS goes to the lamp/heater switch inside the food compartment

Unplugging that lead from J2 terminal will not allow the 'heater' to come on NOR the interior lamp

That is why the on/off switch mod.
