Each cube of three cells is half of a battery. You must series connect both "halves" to get a useable battery.
The gauge of connection wire is mainly determined by the amount of amperes who need to have flowing between the single one bank pairs of batteries. Twenty feet apart 2/0 wire is not unreasonable. That is known also as 00 wire, as big as your thumb. Forty feet total of electricity travel. You cannot fool around too much or you're going to get into trouble with imbalanced states of charge and other Prozac sales tools.
