Somewhere about 65+ amps the installation will call for a 20 amp circuit. And yes a 20 amp circuit requires #12 wire that is thicker than typical #14 used with a 15a breaker.
If you have an open slot you could just install a dedicated circuit for the larger converter. If the circuit breaker controls a string of outlets you have to pull all new wire to add a 20a breaker.
