Doug - thanks. That's the real life usage that I'm looking for and that's where I'm leaning.

Almot - I don't mean to upset you but I'm full circle - and I'm really not sure why that matters.
I may at some point end up with solar. But right now it appears that solar doesn't make economical sense for us. For a couple hundred dollars I can replace my converter and be done with it ... for the time being ... I hope. I don't think I can get into solar for a "couple hundred dollar's" and have it do much for us. Yes, that could be argued for people who camp in areas with less trees than we do. And remember, I already had the generators and I'd have needed to buy the batteries with both plans.
Either way it's a large investment of time and money. I want to make sure I've investigated all reasonable paths so I can try to make the best decision for OUR needs and within OUR financial means.
