Dometic 2652 Americana with problems

Ive got a '03 Wildcat 26 fbs with the Dometic fridge 2652 2 way operation.
First the unit works fine on electric no problems.
On gas it fires up,good flame and cools the unit fine, but shuts off after about 8+ hours. For example I can start the unit on gas in the morning, will cool fine all day, the next morning the flame is out with NO "check" on. I can shut the unit down, and it will fire right back up and operate for hours.
I changed the thermostat, no change, I cleaned the flue, no change
I know the electric gas valve is working, and I have plenty of LP gas and good batteries.
Ive got a couple of questions that I thought I knew the answer to, but maybe not.
Does this unit cycle, does the flame go out when it has cooled to acceptable temp and then fire up when it calls for more cooling?
or does the flame (burner) run continuously?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The burner cycles with cooling demand. I assume you cleaned the burner- I would also remove the electrode, wipe the ceramic body with a paper towel with a bit of silicone lube on it, and lightly sand the electrode wire.

Chris-why the silicone lube? Never thought of an electrode needing lubricant, but then maybe I don't this electrode very well.
  • I'll continue to check it out but now with this information it looks like everything is fine. Thanks again for all the help
  • Now then.........

Go open fridge door.........leave it open and go watch flame come back on

Then go close fridge door and stop worrying unit fridge gets warm, 'check' light comes on :B

You can make minor temp adjustments in food section temperature by moving the thermistor on right fin.
Your thermostat is pre-set but moving thermistor in clip UP on fin will cause food section temps to get cooler. Moving it DOWN will cause less cooler temps.
    6*-8*F change overall

38*f in food section is good temp.
  • If the burner (flame) cycles, then I believe everything should be fine, for example yesterday I fired the unit up, it lit up fine and started cooling, it ran most of the day and the frige was cold, freezer was making ice, the next morning (this morning) I came out to the camper and the flame was out, however the fridge was cold, temp was right at about 38 degrees. I got all shook up that the flame was out..... thanks for setting me straight.
  • Flame cycles on/off as needed by thermostat (same for electric element)

'Check' light should come on IF there is a flame failure.

Just because flame is off doesn't mean LP is not working. NO 'check' light would be normal.

IS fridge staying cold or is it warming up when using propane?

Warming up would be a problem...staying cold would not
