Dometic Americana Temperature Control Failure

While I was doing a system check on my trailer (and getting schooled in how my AC/DC systems works together) I remembered that my refrigerator is problematic. I have to play games with it such as keeping it closed on hot days (duh), but leaving it open just a crack at night so that the food doesn't freeze.

Freezer works great. I could freeze a miniature side of beef in there!

The thermostat in the fridge, though, doesn't stop at 38 degrees. It takes a little longer, but it goes below freezing as well.

Did some reading here and looks like I have to replace my thermistor. Where will I find my refrigerator controller board? Outside or inside? Do I want to try the snip the tip repair kit or do I want to replace the full cable?

Thanks

  • Snip-the-tip is easiest, works well AND gives you a mini adjustment controller.

Otherwise you have to try and pull new thermistor wiring thru fridge liner and insulation down to control module without damaging the wire.

Control module is accessed via outside lower vent........thermistor plugs into P2 connection on board.
