dometic power awning

Question

Just bought a 2013 285rld mountaineer. It has a power awning.
It cannot be fully extended and open the door.
It has to be retracted about one turn. Keystone says that's the way it is.
Seems like a poor design.

That's what the instruction manual states and what I have seen on RV Forums. It is done to put some tension on the awning and to keep water from pooling up during a rain.

It is retracted about 1/2 turn to put tension on fabric and arms.

The door hits/rubs the awning if not slightly retracted? Yes, seems a poor design.
