What does the generator do when the compressor starts? There will almost always be a small voltage drop on compressor start- while the start kit lowers the current needed, it will still be at or a bit over the limit of the genset. This kit will do as good or better than any kit with the exception of the high dollar electronic smart start.
Since I have not measure anything, all I can say is that it totally shuts down the adequate power supply to keep the LED's on, on the new unused microwave. When it starts the yammy really struggles...but it does start.
I start it with the thermostat (small dial) set to 1/2, and the fan knob set to minimum.
It starts (the genset then sounds very struggling, almost stopping, but then catches up), inside followed by a small beep as the microwave turns on and the led's light up again.
the genset has only about 7 hrs on it...could the break-in period be a factor?
Went by the town auto electric, strong outfit, 30yrs in business, rave reviews and specialize in auto air. Very clean outfit with a couple more mature and seemingly experienced gentlemen at the helm and doing the work. They knew the Brisk Air II and were looking at the Duo Therm hsk manual. They both seem to come to the same conclusion that the ptsc part should in fact be removed, physically. He has agreed to go over the install. They are a couple weeks out.
Luckily, the north Idaho weather is now as pleasant as could be, and a/c is not necessary!
It was very evident during the prior tech's attempt to install, the predominant feeling was being a bit unsure. As such, since this is so far out of my league, we feel best having the installation gone over by folks with a higher degree of experience and confidence.
This town (Sandpoint) is pretty small, and having anyone at all who would be willing to do the install was hard to find, so we went with the first outfit, a big box tire store by the hiway which provided additional services, but I have a feeling this was the first time they had opened a B.A. II.
All the same, we are hopeful the 2nd time's the charm.
Will keep the a/c off until then.
Many thanks for the help, advice, and suggestions.
Looking forward to being able to update with even better news in a couple weeks.
cheers
Bob
