Dometic v.s. Duo-Therm Hard Start Kit - yikes, help....
After a bunch of trying we have come to the conclusion that our new Yamaha 2400iSHC genny will run the a/c that came on our 2017 winnebago micro minnie 1706fb. If we start it on shore power, and cool the cabin down a bit, then it will run it ad nauseum once switched over to the genny (and no, the genny has no switch to take it off smart throttle mode, whereby it senses the pull and then adjusts throttle accordingly). However it will not start it!!
I have even run the a/c on fan for 20 mins on the genny, then (you have to turn the switch on the a/c unit through the off position before it goes into the cooling side of the switch, so there is no way to keep the a/c on and then turn on the a/c side as a separate move) tried to run the a/c side, and again the genset goes into overload.
Once the overload light goes on, you have to switch the genset off, then start it again. no problem there, but the a/c still won't start.
So, in addition to checking our "dogbone" connector before ordering, we are going to order a hard start, quick start, etc...kit from either Duo Therm or Dometic. (and yes, I have isolated all the draw on the genny while running test...turned off all other breakers).
We are wondering if anyone might help orient us as to which may be preferable.
I am still trying to find out from Winnebago which exact model of Brisk Air they have in our tt. The manual covers about 10 models, so not sure at this time, but I know it is the 13,500 btu size.
The dometic model most indicated for this purpose seems to be: #3310727.015 or 3311883.000
Duo therm seems to be p/n 3102903.006
If anyone can help illuminate why one may be more applicable than the other, we would be very grateful for your advice.
