Dougrainer thanks for your advice so far. You are correct that I have the LCD Tstat. It does light up and when the various buttons are pushed it goes through all functions normally.
Here is what I have learned today. My unit is a Duo-Therm Penguin, model# 600315.321. There is 117 volts at the incoming yellow 12-3 Romex. If I turn the front unit on, either with A/C or fan only, I hear a click inside the box above the filter, but no detectable humming or buzzing. Can the board and/or relay be tested? I have left the box exposed for now.
Up from the top after removing the shroud I can turn the fan freely. I found the compartment where the capacitors are located. There are three parts in there. How do I test them to determine which if any are defective?
I wish I could post a picture of that area but can't figure out how to accomplish that. Can anybody give me the short course on that? I tried the links in the forum rules but can't seem to get it done.
