- gboppExplorerI bought a similar unit to plug into the 12 volt outlet (cigarette lighter).
It cost about $5 and, I had it in a week. It came from China.
So far, it agrees with my multimeter. Time will tell if it maintains its accuracy. - the_bear_IIExplorerWe used to buy jewelry from a wholesaler that would buy overruns, out of date, unsold lots from jewelry manufacturers. We would pay fifty cents for items with Nordstrom tags showing $65.00 retail. We'd sell it for $3.00.
Some of those sea containers coming from China have tons of merchandise that goes unsold...it's cheaper to dump it wholesale then to ship it back to China.
That's why Dollar Stores are successful. - MEXICOWANDERERExplorerHaving numerous contacts in China and studying the industrial model there...
It is my OPINION that China is not as stable as you might think. Factories MUST produce and sell products to keep its work force busy. Factory owners that close their doors face enormous pressure and ridicule by workers and the community. The government control over labor is iron clad. Money must flow no matter what the cost. Foreign income. Dollars.
On eBay and in the market place you are seeing a "Golden Age" for consumers. Especially if a person knows how to shop China. Of course the dollars outflow is not good for the USA.
I just purchased 100 555 timer IC's for One Single US CENT. Fifty 110 amp MOSFET transistors for $1.90. A couple dollars for shipping each. 25 Optocouplers for 3.35 dollars free shipping. And too many heatsinks to list. Hundreds of them. Wan, taught me how to negotiate Chinese style and it has paid dividends.
Tomorrow I receive ONE HUNDRED 30 watt white LED chips I purchased for $5.57 free shipping. These are GENUINE 30 watt chips that operate at 33 volts.
Tired of CFL warmup time and limited life. Time to go pure LED. - Dog_FolksExplorerI don't wonder. You get exactly what you pay for. Bought a cheap one just a couple weeks ago, it did not work when I needed it and was 30 miles, one way, from the store.
- Big_KatunaExplorer III wonder too. I bought a 110 volt 10a temp controller to make a Sous Vide controller with.
$14 shipped. Works great. I think sometimes they are overruns from a big run for a specific customer so have zero cost basis. It's all profit.
I too think someday the poo will hit the fan. Look at the US auto industry riots in the 30s. - RoyBExplorer IIThese are not very big it appears roughly 2 x 1 x 1 inches...
I have ordered meters from SURE ELECTRONICS Ebay/China a few times and they would arrive in 10-14 days (a few years back)
I got a 3 X 2 inch hole in my F150 Dash just begging for a small 12VDC meter install...
My older Ford trucks always had the DC VOLTs on the info menu but for some reason that was dropped on my 2010 F150... I may be looking in wrong spot on the menu perhaps...
I always wanted to get the VOLTMINDER model 71730 (AMAZON) to monitor my battery bank since this unit has a programmable alarm mode. When I got ready to purchase they pulled the meter from sales for about a year for redesign but I understand they are available now...
Roy Ken - Chris_BryantExplorer IICurrency manipulation.
- RJsfishinExplorerBut the shipment to me is a single item shipment ! Doesn't that have to cost a buck ??? I guess not.
Like I said, how do they do that.Matt_Colie wrote:
Open it up and see just how little is inside it.
Then they load it in a shipping container that hold just a bizillion.
Matt - 1492ModeratorIf you have a chance to travel outside the tourist cities in China, you'll be surprised just how low you can buy things for. Not so much so in wealthier cities such as Beijing any more.
- RJsfishinExplorerI know its from china, but how much do all the parts cost,....ok not much !
Its from china, but how much does the labor cost,.....I know, not much !
But how much is the mark up from factory to the re-seller?
And how much is the mark up from the re-seller to me ?
And how much is the actual shipping charge ?
So how much does that actually leave for the factory ?
I have bought a dozen of these in the past couple years,...stuck'm on my boat, my Motorcycle my UTV, and even on my 24v B&D lawn mower, not to speak of the near 1/2 dozen in the MH. And maybe needless to say, not 1 thing from china, including all the solar stuff, has failed,.......except some super cheap, unregulated leds 5+ yrs ago.
