This might be in relation to some types of "throws" and heating pads automatically turning off after 3 hours. I have a couple of them and it drives me nuts when they do that. And I would not be surprised if our ever helpful government also regulates the maximum temp, too, these days.
I have a large heating pad. You have to keep the large switch depressed, otherwise it cuts off. It's for sure you won't go to sleep and leave it on.
