Electric Blanket ?

If you sleep on a cot or an air mattress in temps below 50 in an unheated enclosure, a heated mattress pad or blanket is the only way to reverse the loss of R-Value heat-sink effect of the laws of thermodynamics.

We use an electric blanket and it works fine. I usually have my side set about half way while DW has her side about 2-3. We only use it when connected to shore power.

We have the heated mattress pad both in the s&b and the rv. At the s&b right now watching the news & I have a Sunbeam electric heated throw. I usually have at least one cat also enjoying the added warmth.

We prefer the heated mattress pads as they stay put where we seem to have times where we play tug of war with a blanket.

I have a Biddeford Queen. 180 watts, single control. Lots of pros and cons regarding blanket versus mattress pad. Personally I do not care for the heat concentrated beneath my body with a pad. But an electric blanket does need a good insulating blanket atop it or heat just rises uselessly into a cool bedroom. Nice to preheat on FLAME ME! Crawl beneath the covers, then set the critter to a lower setting. I am warm blooded. I need HEAT! I figure the Biddeford would keep me plenty warm at 0C set at around six to seven. An electric blanket plus a Thinsulate blanket would be heaven on earth. I wear a comfortable knitted cap and sometimes a sweatshirt to keep shoulders and arms warm. This is in Baja California Mexico not Las Peñas, Michoacan Mexico.

Electric ANYTHING is amazing. An electric lady, though, keeps sticking her freezing feet against my back :(

The ElectroWarmth bunk warmers are 12 volt, but only 36"x60". I use two crossways top and bottom on a short queen. ElectroWarmth used to make a 12 volt queen mattress pad but discontinued them some years ago. Maybe if enough people let them know they would buy one they could make them again.

I have two from different manufacturers and both work great (one for the master bedroom and the other for guests or for the RV). PLENTY hot! As a matter fact, I typically only use setting 1 (out of 8) on the master bedroom blanket. 8 is way too hot. Not sure about the extra blanket but the master auto shuts off after 8 hours.

We have two of the ElectroWarmth 36"x60" 12-volt bunk warmer mattress pads across our short queen, top and bottom. We can control the heat to our legs/feet and torso/head independently. They together draw 12 amps at full power, but the thermostats are usually set pretty low.

This might be in relation to some types of "throws" and heating pads automatically turning off after 3 hours. I have a couple of them and it drives me nuts when they do that. And I would not be surprised if our ever helpful government also regulates the maximum temp, too, these days.
