Electric lid lift assembly

I have a 2002 Coleman Bayside PUP. The other day I tried to raise the roof to get some gear and the motor drive failed to move. Thought it was a battery issue and so plugged the camper into a 30amp service and still no go. So I activated the manual override switch and started hand cranking the roof lift. I got it up about a foot and then it wouldn't move. I could not lower or raise the roof. I have been searching for a replacement motor and found one from the Coleman web site at it will cost $350.00. I tried to contact my dealer and got no response.

Is there a cheaper replacement part or is there a way to "fix" it?

  • I removed the motor from the gear box and powered it up and tried to use the up/down switch and the motor did not spin. I cycled the automatic/manual switch while running the test and the motor did not rotate. I found a replacement on EBAY and may have to change the plug though.
  • I wouldn't buy a motor until I found out what was wrong with it. If you can't make it work manually then something else is wrong.
