Electric plug over sink stopped working.

2012 Class C Sunseeker 2450.

The plug over my sink and the one outside the door (same area) have stopped working. Have checked breakers and fuses and this isn't the problem. Any ideas what to check next?

Thanks
  • I'd check any GFI receptacle you might have, or if you have an inverter, there may be a couple of breakers on it.
  • it may be a GFI outlet since it's near the water. if it is reset it. if not look for a GFI outlet elsewhere in the RV and reset it.
  • Hi,

My plug is GFI protected--the outlet in the bathroom may be the most likely location.

It often trips when I start the generator--but doesn't trip once I reset it.
  • Okay thanks, I'll look for GFI. I don't think I have an inverter.

My outside 120VAC receptacle and the sink receptacle is on the same GFCI breaker located near the sink.

I have another GFCI in the bath room area as well as in the hallway wash-up bedroom sink area.

    Three GFCI's in all...

Normally I get upset at the knee jerk "Check the GFCI" but in this case.. That is suspect #1.. Many RV's have a single GFCI unit, it may be a circuit breaker but most likely is the outlet in the bathroom.. It feeds the kitchen and the patio and in my case the outlet over the dining room table (And the outlet in the other bathroom, yup, bath and a half model).

Some Rigs have 2 or more and often one is well hidden.. One way to find a hidden one (Does not always work) is to go around at night, using only a flashlight, look under and behind.. Look for the little red light.

    Check your GFCI. :)

Now you gone and done it! ;)
  • There isnt much to check other than the breakers and wiring. Everything inbetween is inside the walls and not likely accessible.

You checked the breakers. Assume they are ok.

Check the wiring on the load side of the breakers (nearest the off position of the breaker) to be sure a wire isnt loose or come out of the lug.

If it isnt the GFCI, check the wiring at the receptacles that are not working. I would suspect there is a single wire run to one of the outlets and a jumper to the second outlet. The likely wiring problem will be at the first outlet - not feeding itself or the second outlet in the chain.
