I want to thank everyone that posted for helping me to figure this out. 10 minutes to remove the batteries, clean everything up real good and reinstall properly...and everything electrical that I can tell so far...is operating properly.
Can't believe the batteries (or anything else) weren't damaged in some sort by this gross negligence. I felt pretty lucky when everything worked right away, house batteries showed 12.43v right after hooking everything up with no shore power and the Generator started right up on it's own. Power cutoff switch even operates as it should.
Now my next job is too figure out the mess of wires that is the wineguard satellite and DTV receivers... I think I'll do the same thing...rip it all out and start over by only putting back in place what is needed. That is for another day though.
Also, the step cover is now a manual step cover, instead of an electric operated one...

But at least we can move it out so the wife has a place to put her feet...
We could not get it to come out whatsoever, until I gave it a good yank...now it slides in and out freely but does kind of jam into place when stowed to hopefully hold it there. The electric motor doesn't seem to operate either way and I can't see anyway to even get to it.
Here she is sitting out in the driveway just so you all know what you were helping me work on.

And the inside...

Thanks a bunch, I'm sure I'll have more questions as I dive further into it...
