In a career as an EE in building systems, I never once heard of electric fields being an issue or even being discussed.
At 76 years, I am a graduate of the ARRL Handbook and have never considered Electric Fields until now because someone in an RV felt a voltage tingle on his thigh from a grounded metal seat frame. See my "For example..." link for details.
