Emerson Quit Kool EQK 1350

Question

I bought a used 1988 RV with this unit roof mounted. The cover assembly was destroyed but the unit seems to be functioning - sorta. It blows cold air when it's on the Cool setting and the thermostat is set to Cooler...but it only blows cold for about 20 seconds then it makes a bump sound like it's changing gears and it blows warmer air - like a fan. After about a minute or so of this it kicks back in and blows cold again. Obviously this is not enough to keep the RV cool.

Hoping this sounds familiar and someone can help me out with a setting or adjustment? I haven't been on top to remove the cover and clean anything yet.

Suggestions? Advice?

Is the condenser (outside) fan in good shape, and are the outside coils clean? I have the owners and installation manual at http://bryantrv.com/owners.html.

I'll be checking those in the next few days. Right now I'm finishing moving and I wonder if my shore line might have anything to do with it. For the last several days I've been connected to a 110 via 30 amp adapter. Maybe that's not enough power for it?

I'll be cleaning things over the long weekend and setting up at an RV park so hopefully it will get better.
