Entry Door Window

Has anybody found a good replacement window frame for the entry door window. The last one I replaced lasted about 15 months, the one before that close to 18 months. Not that they are hard to replace, but they should last longer than that.
  • Wow you must have been really lucky, or have a white window frames, or both. The first was the factory install and the second I installed, both were BLACK plastic, both started cracking and shrinking in the corners from excessive heat, really don't think the shrinking plastic was from over tightening or an alignment issue...... Been in construction all my life, and am a Master Carpenter, so I realize how important proper torque and frame alignment are, plus I have also seen the effects of the Phoenix and West TX sun on plastics. Also it sets in the sun 365 days a year, no indoor or covered storage. So trust me when I say that it was caused by the SUN. Thank you for your input, you have been a HUGE help......
  • I have had Rv's in Az for over 15 yrs and have never had one fail like that. i think maybe tightened too tight.
  • Not an alignment problem, just black frame's and the hot Texas and Arizona sun problem. I ordered an EDWIN, recieved it, Just havent had time to install it.
  • Are you using butyl tape under the frame? Maybe you aren't getting it aligned quite right or tightening it too much?

Sounds like it is under too much stress. The tape seals the frame/window and cushions the frame against the door.

It sounds like you are having far too frequent failures, maybe this will help?
  • The Edwin is a great replacement window for the door.

Here is a thread about it with pictures of mine and others.

    THE EDWIN
  • Cracking around the corners, the sun just seems to destroy them in little to no time.
  • Interesting...how are they failing?
Never had any problems with them on any of our rigs over many years.
