Entry door window

I noticed this morning that the glass in my entry door has slipped down, leaving an open gap around 5/8" to 3/4". Thankfully, the rolled up awning above it prevents water from running directly down the door (this has been a rainy week). I need to fix it soon, though. Is butyl tape used in this window just like the regular windows? It seems to me that would be the case, but I have never used butyl tape, as I've never had to deal with a window before. If so, what would be the recommended width to purchase? Thanks.

Or, order EDWIN and be done with that horrible entry door window. We love ours.

That looks nice, and is probably a great idea. But my 'Burb needs some front end work. The Edwin will have to wait!
  • Thanks for the input. I managed to pull the plastic trim rings off and there is indeed butyl tape under there. I think I want to put it back that way. I just don't trust silicone.

I found some 1/8" thick x 1/4" wide black tape online, so I am going to order that.
  • Reaneasy fix. Remove exterior trim ring. Remove glass and old silicone sealant. Reapply fresh clear silicone around perimeter where it mounts and reinstall trim ring. Let it dry good before slamming the door.
