Some small changes likely need to be made to run on propane too.
Your friendly trailer dealer can assist with the gas connecting parts. The main consideration is whether or not the Gen. has it's own gas regulator.
And I agree with running it occasionally but every couple of months should be good enough since you don't have to worry about burning off stale fuel......unless it is stored in a REALLY harsh environment.
