Flex Tape roof repair

Has anyone used Flex Tape for an emergency roof repair? According to the advertising it can fix and repair most anything. Was just wondering if anyone has used it for a roof repair long or short term.
  • "Hi, Phil Swift here, I just cut this boat in half". And I'm sure you know the rest!
  • I used a regular roof repair kit when my roof was slightly damaged by a low hanging branch. It worked very well and is still in place and performing perfectly after 3 years. I've never used Flextape, but I have used another of their products and based on its performance I would never use anything else with their name on it.
  • I've actually used some Flextape for a minor repair on my slide. Whatever kind of tape they used to cover 2 joints in the slide outer frame failed rather quickly, so I replaced one section with flex tape. So far it is doing quite well (about 5 months now in both tropical and desert climate). Guess I'm now kind of doing an unintended experiment.

Know that if you read deep into the very, very fine print on the Flextape package, it states that the tape is for temporary repair only.

So far I'm impressed, but not sure I would trust it for a serious repair.

    Eternabond for anything serious.
  • Never have

I keep two items on hand

Quality aluminium heating duct tape from home Depot etc.. not dollar store

    And Eternabond roofing tape

The ALU tape is for quick repair, clean the area with alcohol and cover with the tape, great on fiberglass or Alu

The eternabond is for permanent repair requires more work to apply

I have used the ALU around mouldings where it is hard to apply and press down the eternabond, the good stuff will stay and not peal or leak, as long as you don't tear it driving thru the trees
