Flexible Hose For Water Pump

I've been to Lowes, Home Depot and a local plumbing supply shop. I've even been to a local hydraulic hose shop that also has food grade hose. I haven't found what I'm looking for yet.

I would like a single hose that is at least 3 feet long - 4' would be good with the proper fitting for the pump (1/2" FPT/FIP with the rubber compression piece I believe).

I would gladly make the fitting if I could find the proper connectors (would have to specify lead free for potable water). I feel like finding what I need should be way easier than this.

So this is what I found:

Lowes/Home Depot
All the faucet connectors had VERY restrictive openings and didn't seem like a good solution at all. They have some clear nylon hose that **might** be ok for water, but there were no fittings for the hose. I looked at 1/2" PEX fittings for the nylon hose but the ID of the hose was too large. I assume that you have to use a standard worm clamp with the nylon hose as well vs some type of crimp system.

Local Plumbing Supply
They had a 1/2 braided hose that seemed like it would work but they said that it only came in 2' lengths.

Local Hydraulic Shop
They have some "food grade" clear hose

If necessary I could make the 2' hose work or use the Shurflo silencing kit but it seems like I should be able to choose from more options. So, any suggestions on where to buy pre-made hose or hose and fittings?

  • don't know why you can't find the hose you are looking for. when i had RV store we had hoses with fitting 3 and 4 ft long hanging from water section. have you tried rv store or just places like lowes.?

My pump is difficult to get to. Winterizing is a pain. I want to move the winterizing connection from the pump to a more convenient spot. The most cost effective way to do this seems to be to use an extension hose and a MPT nipple. Then, to winterize, de-winterize I don't need to get to the pump fitting, just to the nipple the connects the original hose and the extension. From a hookup perspective this is exactly the same as using a sureflow pump silencing kit.

OEMs often use the Oetiker clamps with barbed fittings- they are not really sized for that, but it works, usually. ShurFlo also has barbed swivel fittings that work well.

The OEM must have some special hose. I assume the Oetiker clamps with barbed fittings are for PEX tube. I compared the nylon tube at Home Depot with the PEX tube and fitting. The OD of the nylon tube was larger than the PEX as was the ID. The PEX fittings where really sloppy in the 1/2" ID tubing.

    Shurflo RV Fittings

Thank you. I was on their site and missed this. I'm a little paranode of plastic fittings, but maybe that's not very rational since the pump and existing fittings are all plastic. I figured I'd update as a replaced stuff.

I assume that you just use a standard worm hose clamp with these fittings?

I also found that the DO offer a 36" hose as well:

    411-030-00 Single Riser Only

However, not many people seem to offer it.
  • There are special flair-it nuts for vinyl hose- the ID should be the same, the OD is usually the problem- Flair-It 06314 is the part number.
OEMs often use the Oetiker clamps with barbed fittings- they are not really sized for that, but it works, usually. ShurFlo also has barbed swivel fittings that work well.
  • tHE REASON IS YOU ARE NOT SAYING WHAT YOU NEED IT FOR, i HAVE FOUND JUST ABOUT any rv SALES STORE HAS , darn caps... I re piped my small chalet trailer with all new from the local rv store and most have knowlegable people to help out.
