To put a wrap on this thread, I installed the new PowerMax Boondocker PM4B-45 converter yesterday, and have been checking the voltage readings periodically since then. At first full power up after the initial no load/load voltage checks, the voltage kicked into boost mode at 14.67 volts for about 30 minutes before dropping into normal mode at 13.54 volts where it has remained since, with just minor variances of a tenth or two as the loads change. Since we're actively living in the motorhome, I don't know when or if I'll see it go into float mode at this point. All signs of the erratic voltage readings I saw with the OEM Magnatek have disappeared, and I think I detected a bit of a smile on the batteries. :W

My PM3-100 has an external fan that is DC powered and blows through the unit from the AC input end out through the DC output end. It comes on and turns off during charging as it feels the need.

How about a Progressive Dynamics. odds are they have a model or two that will work. various outupts

Group 24 75 amp hour each
Group 27 try 95 each
Group 29 105 each
Group 31 130 each
4D or a pair of GC2 golf car batteries 230 amp hours

Add up your batteries, Multiply by 0.3 and that is the LARGEST you want.

Smaller is ok, and may make batteries last longer in most cases.

Yes, the unit I have readily available is the Boondocker PM4B-45. And for the naysayers, I can buy it at cost because I do occasional contract work for the shop and they extend their employee perk of buying parts at cost to me. Their retail price for the PM4B-45 is $170 as I recall. Based on the comments here, I'll be picking one up today.
