sounds like a fram filter was used.......the "fibrous" material is prob one for their flimsy cardboard end caps they use in manufacturing, and their anti drain back valve is junk too. Other cheap lines of filter previously used could have failed internally, sending debris into the pump
Yes, I do believe it was a Fram. It was 15 months ago or so, but I vaguely remember that distinctive orange/black filter on it. Bummer.
