FREEDOM 20 CHARGER

I can see 2 very small glass fuses with the cover off of the F20 and they look good. I think that before I go all the way with wiring in the new converter I will pull the F20 out a bit farther so I can really see everything else easier. It would be worth double checking and do all the procedures again also I think.

In the owner's manual posted earlier by Mr Wiz, there is mention of all sorts of circuit breakers, fuses, reset procedures etc. Did none of that work?

Easy to see if inverter part is working, just unplug shore power and see if you have 120v in the rig (from battery via inverter)

I am thinking that all the Inverter stuff won't matter as it appears that it isn't working anyway and I don't care about the dry camping part so I believe that I can wire it like you suggested & be good!

You want the inverter for when you don't have shore power or gen. The inverter gets its 12v in from the battery bank and sends 120v along the same way as when it is on shore power or gen.

You can add a deck mount converter by placing it close to the F20 and run DC wires from the converter's output to the inverter's input. That lets the converter charge the batteries along the inverter's wires to the battery same as the F20 charger portion did.

You can plug the converter into any handy 120v receptacle or you might have to wire in a new receptacle by the F20's 120v input.

BUT!!!! Now, when on inverter for the 120v (not on shore power or gen) you must unplug that new converter so it won't be trying to feed itself in a loop. You will then be on battery for both your 12v and 120v as is standard for "off-grid."

(Before , with the F20, your charger part was cut off by the F20 when on inverter, but now that won't work so you have to do it yourself by unplugging the converter. Just remember to plug it back in when on-grid )

OK, just realized after reading responses that I screwed up telling you guys all the symptoms! I do have 120V in the trailer. The micro, 120V lights, etc all work fine but No charger/inverter! Maybe it is passing thru the F20 as the remote in the hallway also shows incoming power but nothing else. I don't really care about the Inverter part is why I was thinking I could just put the new Converter/Charger in line!

IMO, the OP meant the 120v output to connect his new converter/charger to. But then he said the F20 has 120 at input but nothing coming out so how can he get 120 for the converter from that end of the inverter pass through?

I seems like the F20 could be yanked and a converter but in its place using the 120v input and the old DC output wires from its charger section.

But then there is no inverter. How is 120 going to get to the rest of the rig?

Once you have 120 to the rest of the rig solved, you could get an inverter and also a converter and make up your own inverter/charger easily enough for less money than a new inverter/charger.

Yes, a conveterr charger is nothing more than a glorified battery charger. Just connect pos and neg anywhere (as long as the wires are heavy enuff) and plug it in.

I had not, but now I have. It just seems that everything is dead!
