Fridge problems Norcold

Ok I cleaned the battery terminals then put on my trickle cell charger around 7:30 this morning so we'll see if they charge. My slide outs and electric steps are also not operating so I think must be the battery. I have the RV plugged into house current and I have a reading of 119 on my meter.Can't ck anything else because all is under the bed and can't get the slide out open.

Checked my batteries and I believe they are dead. Checked the converter and that seemed ok my board inside the RV says batteries not charged . One last thing I will try is to put a charger on the battery to see if it will charge. I have to find someone to get the battery out as it's way too heavy for me. That's if they don't charge. I would not be able to put in a new conveyor if that was the problem. I would need a guy or a RV repair chop to do that for me. Thanks for your help. Since you said you took your fridge in for repair, I'm thinking you have it sitting on your garage floor with the power cord plugged into the wall. This won't give it the 12 volts the RV normally provides. If you have it back in the RV, either the batteries in the RV are dead or you failed to connect the 12 volt wires it must have to work (or there is a blown fuse/tripped breaker in the 12 volt fridge circuit). Your batteries SHOULD charge when the RV is plugged into outside power. Sound to me like the converter (also is responsible for keeping batteries charged) is the culprit. Especially if it has been a problem before. Converters have just a few connections and are simple to replace. Just carefully mark and record what goes where before unhooking so you don't mix up the wires when you install the replacement! Converters are around $100 on Amazon/eBay. Just be sure to get one at least as big as the one you are replacing but going way oversize is a waste of money. My experience with converters is that after 10 years they are on borrowed time. All this assumes the batteries are still good. Dead batteries will cause the converter to trip out. How old are the batteries?

Will my batteries charge while I'm plugged into electric?? Never had this problem before. Will also ck my converter. Thanks all for your quick response and possible solutions. Will see what happens tomorrow

Low batteries

Any ammonia fridge (no matter what it's plugged into, must have 12 volt power to operate. Your batteries are low.

Ok the converter sounds like the problem maybe?? Will ck it tomorrow as I have had issues with it before as it would pop off forgot about that. Power seems ok in the garage have other things plugged in.The RV is plugged in with the main rv cord and also a extension cord. Thanks for the info and help. Will let you know if it's the converter.I'm in Nevada and it's too blasted HOT to go into the garage now. Have to go early morning.

Is the Trailer plugged into the Garage via an adapter or JUST the Fridge (Yes folks that is possible)

DC means the trailer batteries.. Normally they charge from "Shore power" (The garage) via a device called a converter.

Suspect list
Garage power.. Is the outlet live? Use a test light
RV: Circuit breakers.. Is power reaching them.. IF YOU KNOW HOW use a test light or volt meter
Is the breaker for CONV tripped, or the main
The converter.. IS IT CONVERTING? Use volt meter on output terminals, disconnect battery and give us voltages both batteries conencted and disconneted

Blown fuse (Converter, Fuse panel, Battery main circuit breaker (usually near battery)

FInally...... If you only plugged in the Fridge by an extension cord.. Plug in the entire RV wait 2-4 hours and try again.

Thanks I'll try that. Could it be bad power in my garage? Like I said it worked fine before, If I have it plugged into an outlet wouldn't that mean I'm not on DC power my fridge only works when plugged in or on propane power

The "lo DC" means the 12 volt DC is low, this affects the power board which affects the operation of all modes. The voltage should be checked right at the board. Make sure your batteries are fulled charged.
