That makes sense as far as rentals are concerned. They obviously spend most of their time driving, so there is very little opportunity for things to go bad. However, my main memory of this was with my parent's motor home. One time they accidentally left it on for just a few hours parked in our driveway which was fairly steep. After that it didn't cool at all anymore and they had to take it in for service. That was in the mid 1970's - possibly the new ones that are computer controlled have some type of feature that shuts them down before something like that can happen.
