Fridge shuts off on shore power

I have a Norcold 9182. I just replaced the circuit board with a Dinosaur N991 because the LP gas valve would shut off 30 sec after ignition. LP problem solved! Now if I turn off the shore power the unit does not automatically switch to LP and if I open the fridge door 2-3 times within a minute when on shore power, the unit shuts off! When I replaced the board, I removed one wire at a time and plugged it into the same position on the new board so I would get them in the right place.

Does anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks,
Dave

  • I assume by the above post that the OP called Dino and got their typical excellent customer service! Thumbs up!
  • I was getting 12VDC and all wires were connected in the proper position. I was getting AC Ripple. This is when there is AC power coming through the DC line. They said it would be caused bu the batteries going bad or a problem with the power converter. The batteries didn't hold a charge for long when I use the RV last weekend so I'm hoping that is the problem.
Thanks everyone for your support and input!

You also stated that it works while on shore power only. Is it getting the 12V when not on shore power?
  • Did you install 'jumper' wire in correct location based on old board part number?

If in Auto or Manual and door if left open for longer then two minutes, the fridge controls turns off FOOD COMPARTMENT LIGHT, sounds an alarm and displays A3 code BUT fridge continues to cool.
(light off doesn't mean fridge turned off....just shut light off to eliminate heat source and energy draw)

  • Does the fridge have 12v DC going to it?

    It needs to....
  • Thanks dougrainer,

I didn't realize that the LP wouldn't come on until needed. Calling Dinosaur now about the other issues.

  • 1. The dino board is BAD
    2. You did not connect the wires correctly.
    3. Since the problem only happened after the Board was replaced, then the board would be suspect first. Call Dino. Doug

Also, Switching to LP. It will only switch to LP IF the refer is trying to cool. If the refer is at set temp and is shut down due to this, when removing 120 shore power the refer will NOT go to LP until the refer needs to start a cool cycle.
