I have been watching this one, I don't think it is a screen getting plugged, because as soon as you shut it off or after a bit when the fuel pump cycles it would clear its self.
but you mentioned you changed the fuel filter and it still does the same thing. to me the next logical place to look would be the pump its self. having said that it could be the relay for the pump or the pump they have similar fail modes. if the relay is cheep, change it and see if it works, if not find a new pump, or go to a different style pump like way2roll mentioned.
