Furnace is acting up... NT-30k Suburban

Yup.... I was waiting for it. Wasn't watching too carefully, but I saw it hit 27 degrees last night.

The furnace woke me up making a screaching type noise. I'm thinking blower motor?

I have an NT-30k.

Does anyone have a lead on the motor if that's what it is?
I don't think its in production anymore.
Wondering what the motor part number is.
There will be a Suburban part number and then a real manufacturers part niumber.
Then, there might be an alternative motor that might be form, fit, and function.

Thanks,
gh

  • Newman, that motor fits NT-30M, NT-30S, and NT-30SP.
Mine is the NT-30k which has a different motor.
  • Newman... I did a search for adventure rv and couldn't find the motor. Do you have more detailed info? A link to the web page?

Ksg5000... It hasn't been sitting. We've been running the furnace for a bit now.
  • Sometimes lack of use can also create squeal issue. In my case I resolved the squeal by letting the fan run for about 1/2 hr straight - squeal went away and hasn't returned. Something my auto mechanic recommended - he says that's one of the fixes he uses when customers complain about dash fans making noises in cars. Just a thought.
  • Yes, I had it out once... well, maybe 3 times now. lol.
That sounds like what I can do to give the motor CPR.
Its and oldy, but the rest of the furnace is in very good shape.
And, If I cant find the motor, its a new furnace, which means cutting new vent holes in the side of the RV..
  • You might try lubricating the motor. Most of those little things do not have sealed bearings and you can generally get oil into the bearing area if you get the motor out into your hand and can hold it vertically and drip oil onto the shaft so it runs down into the bearing area. The bearings are most often oil impregnated powdered bronze bushings and they react well to re-lubricating. I've had excellent results using 0-20WT motor oil. Thin enough to find it's way into the bearing material and will last at least several more years. If it's still running (and squealing), chances are you can rehab it.
