Furnace operates off DC only?

Look up how to open your propane tank valves.

When propane is turned off at the tank the regulator will purge the propane in the line which is a safety consideration. So when you turn the valve back on first lite the cooktop which will purge some of the air. Then for me the HW and refer would lite in 2-3 attempts when they purge any remaining air.

Hey! I knew that. Well sort of. I didn't know that my tanks had a regulator (I should say I didn't know that it was purging the lines). I've always lit my stove to create success with the fridge lighting. Normally it only takes 2 or 3 tries once I've burned some propane at the stove. This time it took extra time, a lot of extra time. I'm guessing the water heater took the same extra time. My systems all seem ready to serve at this point. Now to choose my weekend destination.

In case no one has mentioned it, the furnace works off 12v DC and propane. If it is working off 120v AC, it is because the AC is going through a converter making 12v DC for the furnace.

This is not like the refrigerator and water heater which CAN, and I emphasize CAN, work off of 120v AC for the heating part. Of course, those also MUST have 12v DC for the controls, or they will not work off the 120v AC either.

One of the problems I have sometimes in chatting about RV issues is this:

I have taken college courses in Electroincs,, Studied electrical systems both 120/240 volt and 12 volt much of my life, Have held a Amateur Radio Operators license for going on half a century, Have built my own power supplies, Radios (From kit) antennas, and such.

I tend to forget most folks do not know how to do this stuff :).

At least you folks keep reminding me.
