Furnace operates off DC only?

I'm testing my trailer today. Thought it could use a systems check and a water leak check. Everything seems to be in order.

I was surprised to find out that my furnace runs off DC and propane. I thought I needed AC and propane. Now I'm wondering if it runs off AC and propane at all or does it only run off DC and propane.

I guess I'll have to experiment. It's confusing because my AC only runs off AC, but my furnace runs off DC and propane. I hope the furnace runs off AC and propane, too.

  • It CAN run off ac only if you take the battery out.........but your converter will be changing the ac to dc to control the furnace and it will burn propane. It's DC control power and propane fuel. The dc can come from your battery or the converter. Some rv's vary as to running without a battery so check first. I'm just speaking of some.
  • Furnace DC ONLY!
Not hard to figure out. It has a control board and a 12vdc fan motor.
