Reverse polarity fuses did not blow. Found one battery reads 6.0 volts and the other is 7.7 volts. I guess both batteries have been damaged. When the thermostat is turned to heat, it's just the fan in the AC that comes on. As noted above, that may be what it's supposed to do, but friend insists it never did that before. I've confirmed the blower is okay by running 12V directly to it.
Next thing is to double check the wiring connections to the board. Notes were made by same friend that hooked up the batteries in reverse (hmm).... Looked okay at first glance at the wiring diagram affixed to the unit but will look closer.
