There is nothing new with w/fracking
1947: First well receives hydraulic fracturing treatment, before that they used nito or TNT.
horizontal drilling (mile long lateral) is newer and ain't a dirty word (yet).
There was relatively little horizontal drilling activity before 1985, offshore 'directional' drilling came first.
Combine them and selectively frack and viola.
