I think your math is a little off there friend.
Even the US Dept. of Energy website says; "Since ethanol contains about two-thirds as much energy as gasoline, vehicles will typically go 3% to 4% fewer miles per gallon on E10 and 4% to 5% fewer on E15 than on 100% gasoline." and you have to believe they're being very optimistic and using mathematical calculations and not real world figures.
In a study done by Edmunds they tested a 2007 Chevy Tahoe, an E85 Flex-fuel ready vehicle, in a 'real world' controlled mileage test. The results? Mileage dropped 26% while burning E85 fuel.
