The Meanwell or Megawatt supplies are as good as the converter supplies that I've seen. That is strictly from the type of components and the layout. Both will charge a small bank. I don't know what the specs are on the Blue Sky controller but I'd assume it has an equalization cycle and puts out more than 15V in that cycle.
Solar and controller are doing it all for my two 6v's. I even left in place the stock PD-808 that puts out 30 amps. I'm not using a generator but do have one. I check the SG occasionally and it is always above 1.280 when charged.
Westend that's good news. Thanks. What wattage of panels are you using? What absorption voltage and hold time? Is your CC MPPT? My Blue Sky is fully programmable for voltage and time and has an auto or manual equalization mode. I bought the PWM controller as I only have one 160w panel.
I will start off with 15.3v absorption for two hours and 13.4v float per Interstate specs. This summer I will equalize at 15.6v for two hours as need, again per Interstate specs. If that doesn't get them where they need to be I will bump absorption time as high as four hours per spec.
If this isn't keeping SG at 1.280 or higher I will introduce them to a power supply.
