generac xg8000e low voltage/ engine wont rev up

generac xg8000e low voltage/ engine wont rev up with load to increase volts to match load .

need some help trouble shooting the thing i used a muilt meter to test HZ and volts got 55HZ 98 volts
went under gas tank turned a screw got 62Hz and 126volts now at idle/ no load.

Plugged in a flood light got 61HZ 123 volts then plugged in small air compressor volts dropped to 98.
I reach up under the fuel tank pushed on the gover spring and volts shot up to 140 with the air compressor running so i know its got the power but its not adjusting under load ?

Need ideas im out ?

  • Thank you very much i reset the governor just to be sure. not sure if it was off

Then i tighten up a spring and it seems to be working great now. idle 61.5 HZ 119 volts flood light load 60.68 HZ 121volts light and 15 amp air compressor 60.68 hz and 122 volts. Thank you.
  • Ok thank you it check that out when I get home I'm wonder would it be worth it to try taking that out and hooking up a power control one to keep it at 60h and 120 Volts like a Power control module with a 12 V electronic actuator to control the engine throttle .
  • If you have small hoses connecting intake manifold to governor replace them all. A collapsed, kinked, blocked or pin hole leak in a system can lead to a non responsive governor. Replace all the hoses then try it again.
